With our advanced AI diamond analysis system, you can be confident that you're making an informed and optimal choice. Our platform utilizes sophisticated algorithms to meticulously assess the unique characteristics of each diamond. By leveraging this AI-driven analysis, we provide you with precise and unbiased recommendations, ensuring that you select the best possible diamond that aligns with your preferences and budget. Say goodbye to uncertainty and hello to a seamless diamond selection process.
After spending decades supplying some of the worlds most prominent and discerning diamond retailers, wholesalers and consumers, YDG has pooled their knowledge to create a multi-tiered vetting process to help mitigate the most common pitfalls when purchasing a diamond. The goal: to help ensure that the consumer is purchasing a diamond that is truly representative of the buyer's intent. As explained in various areas on this site, buying a diamond based on the GIA, or other grading reports, DOES NOT GUARANTEE a fine diamond. With the use of AI, YDG will eliminate the most egregious mistakes often made during an e-commerce purchase and even those made in-store!
Our process explained:
YDG has created a two-step “filter” with the use of AI.In Phase 1, YDG utilizes the analysis of information provided on gemological grading reports such as GIA and AGS(which are also prevalent on other grading reports). We consider this “GENERAL” information. Phase 1 is the first step or “hurdle” in the AI process and will determine if the selected diamond enters Phase 2 of the AI “filter” process.
Phase 1, an analysis of the diamond grading report takes place for EACH shape and size:
- Measurements YDG has identified proper millimeters parameters for the respective carat weight and shape of each diamond. These parameters are intended to help identify a FINE category of diamonds and eliminate a more “commercial” stone. ANY diamond that does not satisfy YDG Measurement requirements, WILL NOT enter Phase 2 of the AI process.
- Carat Weight YDG utilizes Carat Weight of each shape and correlates such to the Measurements provided on the grading report.
- Polish YDG DOES NOT ALLOW diamonds which yield subpar results in Polish, to enter Phase 2 of the AI process. YDG has a minimum requirement for all round diamonds and all fancy shape diamonds.
- Symmetry YDG DOES NOT ALLOW diamonds which yield subpar results in Symmetry, to enter Phase 2 of the AI process. YDG has a minimum requirement for all round diamonds and all fancy shape diamonds.
- Though Various diamond grading laboratories issue a Cut Grade “grade” for a diamond. YDG currently only recognizes the GIA and AGS gem labs “grades”. As such, YDG has assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS in this category. IF a diamond does not satisfy said requirement, the diamond WILL NOT advance to Phase 2 of the AI process.
- Fluorescence As the e-commerce trade of diamonds has grown, it suggests that fewer and fewer diamonds are being viewed by the consumer BEFORE a financial commitment is made. As such, and as is the case with all categories listed, YDG will be conservative in its tolerance of potential “issues'' and thereby increase the likelihood of an “issueless” diamond. Diamonds that possess Fluorescence(detected under UltraViolet Light), though possibly containing no visual encumbrance, may fall into a category that will not advance to Phase 2 of the AI process. The YDG analysis in this category takes into account the Color of the diamond when Fluorescence is noted, as well as, the severity of the Fluorescence within each Color category.
- Comments YDG has identified “Comments” which appear on a diamond grading report that are immediately unacceptable. IF any of these are reflected on the grading report, the diamond will not advance to Phase 2 of the AI process.
- Key To Symbols (Clarity Characteristics) YDG has identified nomenclature on a grading report that indicate unfavorable “issues” that the diamond may have. IF certain nomenclature is utilized, the diamond will not advance to Phase 2 of the AI process. This is one of the most overlooked areas when reviewing a grading report and is a key component when the value of a diamond is considered.
- Table / Depth / Crown / Pavilion / Girdle / Culet / Star / Lower Half YDG addresses EACH of these areas and has created an AI analysis that will identify diamonds that adhere to STRICT guidelines. IF a diamond falls short in ANY ONE of these areas, it will not advance to Phase 2 of the AI process.
One should think of Phase 1 as a “filtration system”. All diamonds will enter the filter and those that do not make it through are considered to be “less desirable” than those that advance. Each and every category provides the potential for a diamond to advance or fail. A diamond may satisfy ALL but ONE category, if this is the case, it WILL NOT advance to Phase 2 of the AI process. Remember our goal: to help ensure that the consumer is purchasing a diamond that is truly representative of the buyer's intent.
Keep in mind, there is a reason diamonds that are graded nearly identical are offered at varying prices. YDG identifies the nuances and applies the “filtration system” so you may be more confident in your purchase.
Phase 2 is the AI visual analysis of the diamond. As AI acts similar to a living and breathing entity, it is constantly learning. YDG has “fed” thousands of images to AI in an attempt to help it identify potential “issues” that may cause pause before one should make a purchase. IF a diamond is lucky enough to have passed through Phase 1 of the AI process, it only needs to pass YOUR acceptance of the Phase 2 visual analysis. YDG has created a program that helps you visually locate and determine if a diamond is ACCEPTABLE TO YOU.
