Stud Earrings

Undoubtedly the BEST diamond jewelry gift to give is a pair of diamond studs. After the engagement ring or wedding band, this should be your go-to. A diamond stud can be made in all different shapes of diamonds like this pair from Blue Nile, but far and away the most classic and common is the round brilliant. She can wear them with jeans and a T-shirt or to a black tie event. Some women don't even ever take them out of their ears....seriously...they are that versatile. Doesn't matter the size diamond, these bad boys are a staple.😃

Diamond Stud Earrings6 STEPS TO BUYING THE PERFECT PAIR OF DIAMOND STUDS

1. Set your budget

This is intended to be a purchase for the long haul. Typically this item starts in the thousands, not the hundreds. Wait! What?? Well, let's qualify that for a moment. Yes, you absolutely can get a pair in the hundreds. It will be a nice starter pair(heck we couldn't buy our wives over a carat each for more than 10 years!), but the ultimate goal is to get something of a nice size that lights up the room😃. These will be handed down to kids and their kids. So think hard and long as to what you want to accomplish.

2. Pick a Shape

Far and away the most popular shape is the round diamond. This outsells any shape at a minimum of 10:1. We see the round shape....well..AROUND us all day every day. Just take a second and look around the room. The shape is everywhere. It's eye-appealing, soft and easy. When it comes to diamonds, it is the most consistently brilliant and is truly the highest performer in this category. The next most popular shape is the princess cut stud, like this pair from Blue Nile.

The truth is that diamond studs can be any shape, but when considering which to get, remember that they do turn in the ear and if you have shapes other than a round, you may catch that one may be pointing up and the other sideways, so just something to think about.

3. Quality and size - How to balance

Now this is a question we get asked all the time.Diamond Stud Earrings always encourages balance. We do not encourage the "flash for cash" look. At first glance, the larger more imperfect diamonds may be sparkly, but they will quickly fade in the ear. Imperfections can be eye-visible after the diamonds are worn and get dirty. For us, we would like to see a minimum of I color and a minimum of SI1 clarity, like this pair from James Allen. But wait!!!! It's not just color and clarity. CUT is super super super super important. If you don't have a well-cut diamond, then the sparkle factor will tumble. A well-cut diamond is a must. Having a cleaner diamond with a top cut will most assuredly get you to where you want to be.

Another cool trend we are seeing these days is multiple-size studs in each ear like this BrilliantEarth.

So take your time and consider the options.

4. Pick the setting

This is actually a very important thing to choose. The old traditional 4-prong basket is what most jewelers use, but we feel the 3 or 4-prong martini style is the way to go. This style tends to fit extremely well in the ear and does not tend to sag down like the traditional basket.

For a more sleek design, you can choose the bezel set earring.

You may also choose to go with even more prongs like this 6-prong or 8-prong. Diamond Stud Earrings tend to think this is a lot of metal and takes away from the look of the diamond. But everyone has their style, so hey...don't hate us if you disagree on this one 😃.

Finally, you have to choose what color metal to put it in. Do you want to match an engagement ring if there is one? Is your or their style more yellow gold heavy or white? Do they like rose gold instead?

5. Pick your backs

This is an interesting topic to debate. Over 5 generations of work, this is what we have found. At first thought, yes, the screwback is going to be your safest option. However, most people tend to get very annoyed at the time it takes to put them on and take them off. It's not a 2-second process. The other option would be to have a friction back. Yes....over time, they can loosen a bit. You should feel it if that is happening because they will be much easier to slide off. If this happens, you should take it to your reputable local jeweler or contact the company you bought it from. It's an easy enough replacement. Another great back is the. People who have more saggy lobes or holes that have opened over time love these from Levears. They provide a nice firm back that helps the stud to stay in position. Clients do love these!
