Diamond Education Questions

The 4Cs are Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat - the universal grading system for diamonds. Cut determines sparkle, Color measures absence of color, Clarity evaluates inclusions, and Carat is the weight. Understanding these helps you make informed diamond purchases.

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is the industry standard for natural diamonds. AGS (American Gem Society) focuses on cut grading with their Light Performance system. IGI (International Gemological Institute) often certifies lab-grown diamonds. All provide quality assurance but have different grading methodologies.

There's no fixed rule. Traditional guidelines suggest 2-3 months' salary, but prioritize what's comfortable for your budget. Focus on quality within your means rather than arbitrary percentages. We offer diamonds across all price ranges with transparent pricing.

Round brilliant remains the most popular (about 75% of diamonds sold) due to its maximum sparkle. Oval and cushion cuts have gained popularity for their elongated appearance. Princess cut is favored for square shapes. Ultimately, choose what appeals to you personally.

A GIA report includes the diamond's measurements, 4Cs grades, proportions diagram, fluorescence, and plot of inclusions. Key sections: Shape & Cutting Style, Measurements, Carat Weight, Color Grade, Clarity Grade, Cut Grade (for rounds), and Comments. Our experts can help interpret any report.

Color refers to the presence of yellow or brown tint in a diamond (D is colorless, Z has noticeable color). Clarity refers to internal inclusions and surface blemishes (FL is flawless, I3 has visible inclusions). Both affect value but in different ways.

Online offers convenience, wider selection, and often better prices. In-person allows you to see diamonds firsthand. We combine both: browse our extensive online inventory, then view selected diamonds virtually or in our showroom. All diamonds come with certification and return policies.

Cut quality is most important for sparkle. Then balance color, clarity, and carat based on your priorities and budget. Consider the setting, recipient's style, and intended use. Our Simplified Buyer's Checklist helps prioritize these factors systematically.
