REFERRAL & AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE

How our referrals work

You do not pay us for your consultation. A retailer can pay us when a referral leads to a qualifying purchase. Here is the relationship, in plain English.

How our referrals work - YDG Referral & Affiliate Disclosure
The referral relationship should be clear.

Your consultation is free. Retailer referrals can pay us.

Some links on YourDiamondGuys.com can earn us a commission when you make a qualifying purchase. The retailer pays that commission. It does not add a referral fee to your purchase price.

That income helps support our free content and consultations. Free advice does not mean there is no financial relationship. You deserve to know how the business works before weighing a recommendation.

The relationship is part of the decision

A commission is a financial incentive. Read our recommendation with that in mind. Ask what evidence supports it and whether another diamond or retailer deserves a look.

Inside the diamond trade, access to a stone and the quality of that stone are separate questions. A supplier relationship gets a listing in front of someone. It does not make the cut better, remove an inclusion, or improve the return terms.

That is why our diamond review method puts the report, actual visual evidence, measurements, and purchase conditions in the conversation. The reasoning should be useful to you even before you click a retailer link.

What you should not assume

A statement or linkWhat it means for you
Free consultationWe do not charge you for that consultation.
A retailer referral linkA qualifying purchase can generate a commission for YDG.
No extra referral costThe referral does not add a fee to your purchase price. It is not a lowest price guarantee.
A retailer review scoreAn editorial assessment of the retailer experience, not approval of every diamond it lists.
A link to an educational sourceA reference for the subject being discussed. It is not a claim that the source endorses YDG.

Do not treat our retailer links as a complete list of every option in the market. Compare the actual stone and the complete purchase offer.

You choose where to buy

You can use our educational material and ask questions without committing to a purchase. The seller handles its checkout, payment, delivery, returns, and warranty terms. Confirm those details with the seller before buying.

Rob and Josh can help you interpret the evidence and the choices. You make the purchase decision. Buying guidance does not become a grading report, appraisal, insurance contract, or seller warranty because it includes a referral link.

Why the disclosure needs to be easy to find

Financial relationships belong near the recommendation, where you can use that information. The FTC's guidance on endorsements and affiliate relationships explains why clear disclosure matters.

This page provides the fuller explanation. If a relationship or link is unclear, ask us before purchasing. You should not have to decode a marketing label to understand who can get paid.

Ask us about a specific recommendation

Send the page or retailer link you are looking at and tell us what you want clarified. You can ask how a referral works, what supports the recommendation, or which parts of the offer need checking.

Book your free consultation if you want Rob or Josh to help with the diamond itself.
